A Brief History of Aurora
Aurora began as Fletcher, a small real-estate development incorporated in 1891 east of Denver. Drought and the financial crash of 1893 challenged its early ambitions, but the community survived and adopted the name Aurora in 1907. It gained recognition as a city in 1928; military institutions later became an important part of its story.
