A Brief History of Blanca
Blanca developed in the San Luis Valley in the early twentieth century and takes its name from nearby Mount Blanca. The community became the northern terminal and operating base of the San Luis Southern Railway. That line connected valley settlements south toward Jaroso, making rail transportation a defining part of Blanca's early history.
