A Brief History of Buford
Buford's local history is preserved in the story of its schoolhouse near the White River and Big Beaver Creek. A school was already operating by 1890; its upstairs room also hosted dances and other gatherings. Flooding damaged that early building in 1902, leaving a record of how education and community life developed together in the valley.
