A Brief History of Centennial
Centennial emerged from a late-1990s campaign by residents of unincorporated Arapahoe County who wanted their own municipal government. Voters approved incorporation in 2000, and the city formally incorporated in 2001. Its story centers on civic organizing and local self-government, rather than the mining and railroad origins of many older Colorado towns.
