A Brief History of Cheyenne Wells
Cheyenne Wells takes its name from a stage-route location associated with wells used by Cheyenne people. The settlement shifted toward the Kansas Pacific Railroad, and a town company laid out the townsite in 1887. Its role as county seat and a transportation center helped establish its importance on Colorado's eastern plains.
