A Brief History of Coalmont
Coalmont developed in North Park around coal mining in the early twentieth century. Its name reflects the local coal deposits, and a post office served the community from 1912 to 1983. Mining, railroad shipments and the schoolhouse form important parts of the settlement's history in rural Jackson County.
