A Brief History of Colorado City
The Colorado City south of Pueblo emerged as a planned development in the 1960s. Contemporary newspaper coverage described an ambitious new community near Rye and Greenhorn Mountain, with construction and recreational development central to its plans. This is a different place from the nineteenth-century Colorado City now known as Old Colorado City in Colorado Springs.
