A Brief History of Commerce City
Commerce City's history joins several settlements in southern Adams County. Agriculture gave way to expanding industry during the twentieth century, and residents voted to incorporate Commerce Town in 1952. The annexation of part of Derby in 1962 increased its population and helped bring the change from Commerce Town to Commerce City.
