A Brief History of Craig
Craig's post office opened in 1889, and the community incorporated in 1908. Its name honors financial supporter William Bayard Craig. The town became Moffat County's seat, while later coal mining and power generation brought major economic changes, linking its local story to the development of northwestern Colorado's energy industries.
