A Brief History of Creede
Creede's mining boom followed Nicholas Creede's 1890 discovery of a rich silver deposit at the Holy Moses Mine. Rail service soon reached the area, helping the camp grow rapidly. The silver panic of 1893 tested that growth, but the community survived and preserved a distinctive history of mining in the upper Rio Grande country.
