A Brief History of El Jebel
El Jebel developed from a Roaring Fork Valley farming and ranching property into a residential and commercial community. In a 2020 family interview, Adele Hubbell recalled that her father, Floyd Crawford, bought El Jebel Ranch in 1961. Improvements included water and sewer utilities, a fire department, a schoolhouse and paved roads. The family established a mobile home park in the early 1960s to house workers building Ruedi Reservoir and others in the surrounding area. That housing helped shape the community’s role in the valley. El Jebel remains an unincorporated community in Eagle County.
