A Brief History of Foxfield
Foxfield incorporated in 1994 as residents sought to preserve a rural community amid suburban growth southeast of Denver. Earlier ranchland had attracted households wanting acreage for horses and other animals, and many homes dated to the 1970s. By the early 1990s, concern about possible annexation by Aurora encouraged residents to establish their own town. Incorporation gave the community control over local decisions, but development around Parker and Arapahoe roads soon brought traffic pressures. Foxfield’s history reflects the effort to maintain a spacious residential landscape within a growing metropolitan area.
