A Brief History of Fraser
Fraser developed around lumber production and the Moffat railroad. In 1905, George Eastom acquired and platted the townsite while establishing the Middle Park Lumber Company. Ranchers, loggers and railroad workers formed its early community. Dr. Susan Anderson, remembered as Doc Susie, arrived in 1907 and spent fifty years treating residents, often making house calls through deep snow. Lumbering sustained growth during the 1920s, followed by population losses during the Depression. The community formally incorporated as the Town of Fraser in 1953, nearly half a century after its plat was recorded.
