A Brief History of Norwood
Norwood grew as a farming and ranching center on Wright’s Mesa, supplying nearby mining communities with food, goods and lumber. A log cabin built around 1886 housed a post office and general store, making it an early gathering place for the settlement. The town incorporated in 1905. In 1939, the Norwood Ladies Chorus and Study Club purchased the cabin and moved it to Lucerne Street for community use. The preserved building became Norwood’s historical museum, linking the town’s early commercial life with later efforts to protect its history.
